The University of Ottawa, founded in 1848 as the College of Bytown and officially incorporated in 1849, is located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is renowned for being the world’s largest bilingual (English-French) university. With its main campus in the Sandy Hill neighborhood, the university primarily focuses on undergraduate programs, serving 35,515 full-time and part-time undergraduate students compared to 6,741 graduate students in 2018. It is a notable research university and a member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada.
